John J. H. Lin was a visiting scholar at the Lund University, Sweden. Based on the goal of 'The Digital Classroom', he developed a set of programs so as to build inter-connection among eye trackers. This design allowed learners and teachers to see visual focus, as well as visual trends of each other while learning. He worked as a software engineer/data scientist at ASM Pacific Technology (The world's leading semiconductor packaging equipment and process solutions company) afterward, where he developed AI artificial intelligence models for big data modeling. He also had practical experience in employing machine learning concepts and theories to explorer learning issues in digital learning.

His research focuses on the integration of digital technology (hardware and software) to diagnose the difficulties during problem solving processes. Particularly on integrating eye-tracking and handwriting devices to shape a Complete Problem Solving (CPS) environment. He also developed programs that record the learner's dynamic cognitive history of problem solving to diagnose the difficulties encountered by the solvers. The program also provides information for the instructor to intervene and assist the learner. He also specializes in statistical analyses, including Multilevel Structural Equation Modeling (ML-SEM) and Monte Carlo analysis. His current research interests focused on AISE (Artificial Intelligence for Science Education).
